Japanese cuisine is much more than just sushi, and a new Montreal restaurant will show you just how delicious Japanese food can get without a sea-weed wrapping. Set to open on November 8th, according to Eater, Kinka Izakaya will be the new hot spot for Japanese eats in downtown Montreal.
"Kinka" name may be new to Montreal, but the brand is well respected in Toronto and linked to several different Japanese restos. Kinka Family Inc. already owns and operates two Izakaya restos, GuuSakaBar and GuuIzakaya, along with three different Kinton Ramen locations., all of which have been very successful.
Kinka Izakaya, to be located on 1624 St. Catherine (in the Faubourg mall) will be the Kinka Family's first foray into the realm of Quebec, though we're pretty confident the resto will do pretty well. In an interview with Notable, the resto-operators said the menu of Kinka Izakaya will be much like what is found at GuuIzakaya and GuuSakaBar, which is what makes us so hopeful, and excited.
With Kinka Izakaya's menu similiar to other Guu restaurants, you can expect delicacies like marinated octopus, seared tuna sashimi, deep fried prawn, kimchi udon, bibimbap, and banana tempura to be available, among many others. To get your mouth salivating, check out the guutoronto Instagram feed, which will give you a delicious preview on what to expect at Montreal's newest Japense resto.
Kinka Izakaya will be opening on November 8th in the Faubourg. Head over to the resto's Facebook page for any updates and more info.
