For those of us who can’t always make it out into the wilderness to partake in the Quebec tradition of the cabanes à sucre/sugar shack, it will be making its way to Old Montreal from mid-March to mid-April once again for the Scena "maple syrup food festival," otherwise known as Un Chef à l’érable.

Last year, guest chef Laurent Godbout, renowned for his culinary brilliance at Chez l’Epicier, curated quite a game-changing 4 course menu that may just be hard to beat. Think: Pea soup with fresh maple cream and roasted lardons, hay-braised ham in a maple cooking juice, and maple and bacon s’mores (pic'd below) to name only a few

The 2015 menu has yet to be introduced to the public, but we can expect a cross between wholesome Quebec tradition and Old Montreal-chic, sure to dazzle any who appreciate a coma-inducing, heavy dose of maple syrup.

Scena will be the venue hosting the event, located at Jacques-Cartier Quay, and at $60 a pop (taxes and services not included), there will be two services taking place. Doors open at 12:30pm for the first round, where service will begin at 1pm, and at 6:30pm for the second, where service will commence at 7pm.
