We're on to the second day of Burger Week and things are still looking super tastey. On our second day of this week long burger extravaganza, we mack'd on Globe and Planete Poutine's tasty entries. Read on to find out just how good they look and taste.
Globe: Cheeseburger de côtes croisées
Globe's Cheeseburger is a little pricier than most of the other burgers offered this week, but let me tell you it is worth the extra few bucks. Going for very bold flavours, Globe's cheeseburger has a ground short rib patty for a full fat and meaty texture which is almost tartar-like. Melted on top is Maréchal cheese (almost like Swiss), along with carmelized onions and mushrooms, homemade ketchup and mustard, and placed inside a buttered and grilled freshly made bun. Incredibly executed, Globe's cheeseburger has all of the classic burger flavours but takes them to the next level. The bun has a grilled cheese like texture, the patty is tender and juicy, and there's almost no mess involved while eating. I also have to give a shout out to Globe's fries, which are thick cut and fluffy while still being nice and crispy on the outside. Thus far, Globe ranks highest on my list.
Planete Poutine: The Klassik
As the name would suggest, Planete Poutine's burger is a traditional cheeseburger in almost every sense of the word. Double A Angus beef is topped with two slices of cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoe, carmelized onions, house spicy mayo, all on a sesame bun. Nothing is too out of this world about the burger itself, it tastes just like what you'd expect a cheeseburger to taste like. I was a big fan of the spicy mayo inside the burger, which added some solid zest to the traditional cheeseburger taste. Served alongside is a standard poutine, a great side which adds to the classic burger experience.
Day 2 is done and there's still more burger adventures on the way. Let us know where you'll be eating and make sure to vote for your favourite spots at Le Burger Week's official website.
