As part of La Poutine Week happening next month, Montrealers will not only get a chance to sample a multitude of gourmet and gluttonous original poutines made by humans, but also sample never-seen-before recipes created by a robot. Oh, and for free.
Okay, so it's not actually a robot that will be manning the deep-fryer and ladling the gravy, but there is a super-computer involved. Among its various other functions, IBM Watson, a cognitive computing system, has analysed like a bajillian ingredient combinations and has created five unique poutine recipes for Montrealers to sample on.
IBM is calling it "Cognitive Cooking", we're calling it one step closer to finally having one of those Star Trek food replicators.
Either way, you can try out robot poutine Thursday, February 5 from 7:00pm - 11:00pm at L'Auberge St-Gabriel during La Poutine Week. Check out the Facebook event page for more details and vote for your favourite recipe on the IBM’s Cognitive Cooking site.
