Here at MTL Blog, we do love to share unusual recipes; things you never thought of making and even things you didn't know could be made at home. This time is no different. Everyone knows you can easily make pudding, jello and even ice cream at home. You might have also noticed that we have developed a slight obsession with Popsicles lately: Lime & Raspberry Sangria , Blackberry & Lemon , Strawberry & Vodka, Mango & Rum, Coffee, Kiwi & Mango Lemonade, Long-Island Peach Iced Tea, Lemonade & Fresh Fruit and of course Cucumber Gin & Tonic.
But how about slushies at home? Yup! That's possible too, and it's an amazingly delicious alternative to traditional frozen desserts. Feast your eyes on Tequila Watermelon Lemonade Slushy!
Here's what you'll need:
- 4 1/2 cups seeded, cubed watermelon
- 2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
- 1 cup Splenda
- 1/2 cup of Tequila (dealer's choice)
Process watermelon cubes in a blender. Filter the contents using a mesh screen to separate the juice (2.5 cups) and throw out the rest.
Mix gelatin with cold water in a saucepan and let it stand for one minute. Cook it over low heat while stirring it until everything is dissolved. Mix the watermelon juice with the gelatin, lemon juice, lime juice, tequila and splenda. Freeze for 1-2 hours.
