Recall: Baby Cradles Sold In Canada Are Being Recalled After Causing Over 30 Infant Deaths

Several models of a popular Fisher-Price "Rock n' Play Sleeper" bassinets are being recalled after over 30 infant fatalities were reported relating to the use of the product

The fatalities have all been reported in the United States at this point, however over 600 units have been sold on, meaning the product has made its way into Canadian homes. 

The affected products were sold from January 2018 to April 2019 and according to Health Canada, they do not meet the requirements necessary to be marketed or sold as cribs, cradles or bassinets.

The four models currently being recalled in Canada are the following Fisher-Price Rock n' Play Sleepers:

Fisher-Price Deluxe Auto Rock 'n Play Sleeper with SmartConnect - Model # GGD42

Fisher-Price Deluxe Newborn Auto Rock 'n Play Sleeper with SmartConnect, Isle Sone - Model # CMP94

Fisher-Price Deluxe Auto Rock 'n Play Sleeper [Amazon Exclusive] - Model # CMP94

Fisher-Price Auto Rock 'n Play Sleeper - Model # DMJ23

The reason the product is being recalled, in addition to the infant fatalities reported in the U.S., is the erroneous category that these products were being marketed and sold under. 

According to Health Canada, the sleepers seen in this article were advertised as "sleeping accommodations" for children while simultaneously not meeting the requirements to be safely labelled as a Crib, Cradle or Bassinet.

If you have a Fisher-Price Auto Rock 'n Play Sleeper you can check for the Model # by looking on the inside of one of the round hubs on the frame of the unit.

Health Canada warns that consumers should "immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Amazon for a full refund." 

Health Canada also notes that it isillegal to re-distribute, sell or give away recalled products, as per the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act.
