Legault Was Absent From Wednesday's Press Conference & People Have Questions

The Government of Quebec's daily press briefings have become part of the daily routine of so many Quebecers. Every day at 1 p.m. sharp (or almost at least), thousands of Quebecers open up their computers or turn on their televisions to watch Premier François Legault unveil the latest developments on the COVID-19 pandemic in the province

Typically accompanied by Minister Danielle McCann and Dr. Horacio Arruda, Mr. Legault and his colleagues have become something of a star trio, with their talks being eagerly followed by the public.

That's why many people were concerned when the Premier did not show up at the press conference on Wednesday, April 29.

Instead, he was replaced by Deputy Premier Geneviève Guilbault, which has happened a few times since the daily COVID-19 briefings have begun.

Quebecers were quick to comment on Legault's absence, which we could tell by the many messages that were posted underneath the live video of the conference on Facebook.

Curiosities about where the Premier could have been today have started running wild.

Now we're here to share some of the comments with you.

As you can see, many were left wondering where the Premier was and hoped he was alright.

Others were disappointed not to see him, saying they felt safer and more motivated when he spoke.

Some people took his absence rather lightly, joking that the Premier may have had an urge to go to the washroom just before the conference started, or that he could have contracted COVID-19.

Despite the disappointment with François Legault's absence, many congratulated Deputy Premier Geneviève Guilbault for her professionalism.
