Giant Meteor Shower Will Be Visible For Almost A Week Across Canada This Month

The weather is getting warmer, the sun is staying out for longer, and Canadians can finally feel the effects of spring across the country. With everyone in much better spirits this week due to better days ahead, we can finally start looking forward to outdoor activities.

One special event taking place this month falls perfectly into the more welcome temperatures in most parts of Canada, meaning spending some time outside during the evening and night won't be anywhere as miserable as it was during winter months.

In case you didn't know, a giant meteor shower will be visible across all of Canada this month, and you really won't want to miss it.

TL;DR The Lyrid meteor shower will be visible this April 19 to April 25, 2019. The peak of the shower will take place on the night of April 23, with up to 10 shooting stars visible each hour. Canadians will be able to watch the celestial event from anywhere in the country.

According to In-The-Sky.Org, the Lyrid meteor shower will be visible across Canadian skies this April 19 to 25, 2019.

Shootings stars, which are actually pebble-sized debris from space, will reach an altitude of 70 to 100km each evening.

The peak of the meteor shower is on April 23, 2019. During this evening, up to 10 meteors will be visible per hour.

The visibility of the celestial event does depend on how clear the night sky is, so you might want to venture away from the city and to a more quiet setting for this one.

The best time to view the Lyrid meteor shower will be at midnight.

Luckily, temperatures are much warmer now than in previous weeks, meaning it won't be too much of a challenge to grab a jacket and head outdoors.
