Well, today is a sad day in the celebrity food world.
Anthony Bourdain was found dead in the earlier hours this morning in Paris, France, he was said to have been there shooting content for his widely popular TV show that covered food and culture all around the world.
Bourdain was massively successful in his career. He led numerous TV programs and docu-series, was a well-accomplished journalist, and a father/family man. As the details are still coming out surrounding this tragic news, the world of chefs and celebrities alike all have words to say.
The (arguably) biggest name in Hollywood cooking, Gordon Ramsay, came onto social media this morning to express his thoughts about Anthony Bourdain, and this massive loss to the community.
Gordon Ramsay's tweet reads:
Stunned and saddened by the loss of Anthony Bourdain. He brought the world into our homes and inspired so many people to explore cultures and cities through their food. Remember that help is a phone call away US:1-800-273-TALK UK: 116 123
Gordon Ramsay's shock on the sudden suicide of Bourdain speaks volumes and really hits the nail on the head to how the world is reacting to this news.
Here is a video of the time Bourdain's show visited Gordon Ramsay's restauraunt.
It seems that everybody who knows Bourdain is shocked. Though, I guess this makes sense. Its far too common today to hear a story like this about anyone person suicide. Often the signs are there, but we (as people in general) do not see them.
In the entertainment industry, there is a big gap to fill for people who experience issues with mental health. When combined with fame and such a heavy workload, it can become suffocating.
Anthony Bourdain was said to have been traveling over 200 days per year shooting content for his TV projects. Bourdain, himself, has also spoken candidly about his issues with drug abuse - including heroin, LSD, and cocaine.
Gordon Ramsay had nothing but nice things to say of Bourdain in the past, which is always nice to see. I mean, he is pretty ruthless with his words.
The love felt for Bourdain from Ramsay, from Bourdain's fans, friends and family is real. This is a sad day.
Our thoughts go out to his family and friends in this tough time, and this story is still developing as we speak.
Just as Gordon Ramsay put it, if anyone out there has feelings of depression, seek help. Start a conversation. When you start to speak about it, it gets better.
