Hollywood Director Roland Emmerich Holding Open Casting Call To Montrealers For His New Movie

Roland Emmerich, a Hollywood director whose films include Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow and 2012, will be shooting his new film Stonewall in Montreal this summer.

The film will tell the story of a homeless gay teen who finds himself caught in the middle of the Stonewall Riots. If you don't know what the Stonewall Riots are (and you should), here's a brief summary: in 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn gay bar in New York. This was the catalyst that led to the modern gay civil rights movement, as well as the first ever Gay Pride parade.

This is a story that needs to be told and you, Montreal, can help tell it.

Emmerich is still looking for gay and gay-friendly (paid) extras, between the ages of 18 and 30, to take part in the film. Anyone who is interested can reach out to Julie Breton at - include all of your information (including height and weight), contact information, a couple of pictures and whether you're a smoker, or willing to smoke fake cigs.

For more information, check out the Montreal Gazette or the Stonewall Facebook page.
