If English Montreal CEGEPS Were Hogwarts Houses

No, you can't ALL be in Gryffindor.
If English Montreal CEGEPS Were Hogwarts Houses

It's a universal truth that everyone who read Harry Potter wants to go to Hogwarts. I mean who wouldn't want to learn charms and potions and play quidditch, all while living in a giant castle? But that begs the question - which House would you have been sorted into? Sure you could take one of the endless online questionnaires that will sort you, or you could use the much more valid criteria of what CEGEP you go to.

Read on to discover your Hogwarts House based on your choice of CEGEP.

Slytherin: Marionopolis

In the Harry Potter universe, Slytherins have a badrap. The founder of their House was an elitist who believed that only purebloods (witches and wizards with no non-magical ancestors) should be allowed to study magic; because of this, most of the kids sorted into Slytherin are purebloods. Due to the sheer age of their families, most purebloods come from affluent families in positions of power in the wizarding world. Perhaps due to this obsession with purity, Slytherins are more likely than members of any other house to become followers Voldemort. Its Head of House is Severus Snape, the potions master. Aside from their lineage, Slytherins are known for their loyalty to their own, their cunning, and their pride.

Slytherin's reputation aside, Marionopolis is a good match, what with its wealthy student body, exclusivity, and careful attention to its image. Marionopolis is a private college, meaning that most of its students come from wealthy families. The school is extremely selective of who they accept as students, and academic excellence is highly valued. It is easily the closest fit for Slytherin.

Ravenclaw: Vanier

Ravenclaw is the brainy house at Hogwarts. To get into their common room one must answer riddles so complicated that they've been keeping out the Slytherins, Gryffindors, and Hufflepuffs for generations. Their common room and dormitories are situated in a tower, where they'll be left alone with their books and philosophical questions. Above all else, Ravenclaws value intelligence and inquiry. Its Head of House is Filius Flitwick, the Charms professor.

Vanier is placed in a quiet, yet very accessible pocket of the city. It is smack-dab between two cemeteries, giving the entire place a quiet, contemplative atmosphere. Vanier also offers a huge variety of programs and tons of interesting and unexpected classes, making it an ideal college for those who are intellectually curious and/or pursuing an unusual area of study. If Helena Ravenclaw, the founder of Ravenclaw House, could see Vanier, she'd be proud.

Hufflepuff: John Abbott

Ah, Hufflepuff. That most underrated of Hogwarts Houses. Their common room is located in the basement of the castle, next to the kitchens. Helga Hufflepuff founded her House with the belief that anyone who had the will and the ability to study magic deserved the opportunity to do so; this has led to many less-than-impressive people being sorted into Hufflepuff who were not studious enough for Ravenclaw, brave enough for Gryffindor, or ambitious enough for Slytherin. But don't be fooled - Hufflepuffs do have admirable traits of their own. Out of all the Hogwarts students, Hufflepuffs are the kindest and consistently the most morally driven. They are also rumoured to be "good finders." The Head of Hufflepuff is Professor Sprout, who teaches Herbology.

John Abbott College has a tiny, pleasant campus on the river where you can buy Nutella sandwiches in the basement, much like how Hufflepuffs must always be sneaking into the kitchens for midnight snacks. The stoners on campus are the kindest people you will ever meet. They're also kind of everywhere and play hackie-sack in front of the entrance used by visitors. (Come on - with the Herbology professor in charge of them, you know that Hufflepuffs are huffing that puff.)And with the bizarre layout of the buildings (especially in the basements), you really do need to be a good finder to get to your classes as a freshman.

Gryffindor: Dawson

Gryffindor is easily the favourite Hogwarts House among casual fans, being the House of Harry, Ron and Hermione. Gryffindors are known for their boldness, their loyalty to their friends, and their willingness to throw themselves into dangerous situations. Because of this, Gryffindor tends to be the Hogwarts House of future heroes, but they are often viewed as brash, abrasive, and reckless.

Dawson is in a loud, busy area of the city. The students often have tattoos and awesome stories about last weekend’s bar crawl, much like rambunctious Gryffindors. On a more somber note, studies suggest that the students and faculty at Dawson are still feeling the psychological effects of the 2006 shooting. And yet the school is still a popular choice for high school grads and the students continue to kick ass, both in the classroom and out. It takes real strength and solidarity to keep on functioning as a dynamic school after something as horrible as a shooting, and it shows a tremendous amount of bravery on the part of the entire Dawson community that they are doing just that.
