It's Going To Feel Like -29°C In Montreal Tonight

The last week of February has started off pretty miserably, to say the least. Yesterday we were blindsided by 80km/h winds across the city that caused poor visibility due to blowing snow and trash. Temperartures also worsened overnight, not to mention how much ice is still covering sidewalks and roads across the city. It's safe to say Montreal is an obstacle course from your nightmares right now.

Today hasn't been much better so far. Temperatures are well below freezing and wind is currently at 54km/h. You probably didn't already expect conditions to get better, but just so you know, the city will be seeing freezing temperatures as cold as -29°C tonight.

TL;DR Environment Canada is warning freezing temperatures tonight as low as -29°C. Frostbite will be a serious risk tonight as exposed skin can freeze in less than 30 minutes. More details below.

Earlier this morning Environment Canada released an official statement to warn that, although wind gusts would become lighter overnight, temperatures are expected to drop to -23°C this evening before becoming -29°C overnight.

Frostbite will be a risk in Montreal tonight, as exposed skin can freeze in under 30 minutes once temperatures drop below -28°C. Needless to say, you'll want to take any opportunity to stay indoors as much as possible this evening.

Unfortunately, the rest of the week will remain brutally cold with stronger wind chill than normal. It definitely looks like winter is taking one last swing at Montrealers before spring officially begins.

In the meantime, make sure to stay safe and check on your elderly neighbours. Also keep any eye out for blowing snow. Yesterday, instense winds scattered huge deposits of litter across the city.

Stay tuned for more Montreal weather updates.
