It's Official, Molson Is Making Marijuana Drinks In Canada

The legalization of recreational marijuana in Canada has opened up a market with endless possibilities.

Entrepreneurs, businesses, and trend-setters are scrambling to make their mark in the new industry. Soon we will see weed-themed bars and terraces, marijuana bakeries (that is, if and when edibles are legal), and seaside resorts for pot enthusiasts.

Major corporations are also trying their luck at novelty marijuana products.

Molson Coors, the Canadian-American brewing company, today announced that they will be developing a new line of beverages infused with marijuana!

Per federal law, the drinks will be non-alcoholic. And because such beverages are considered edibles, they won't be legal federally until next year. Then it's up to the provinces to decide whether to legalize foods and drinks with marijuana.

There's also no word yet about just how the company will distribute such beverages. Will the new government-run marijuana retail sotres, like the Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC), include refrigerator isles?

Except for one store in Nova Scotia, we really have no idea how the new recreational marijuana retailers will look.

But this announcement from Molson is certainly a sign that the marijuana market is quickly diversifying. Official statistics about just how positively recreational weed legalization will affect the economy likely will not be released until well after the October 17th start date.

In just over one year, Canadians might be able to enjoy Molson's weed drink. That is, if you're not boycotting the company for its connections to Trump.

Stay tuned.
