When news dropped that wine-infused ice cream existed and could be enjoyed, everyone went (understandably) crazy with excitement. Two decadent vices have been magically fused into one, and the world instantly became a better place. Our hearts fell once we realized we couldn't get any in Montreal, until we learned of Gelaterie Pierino, who makes their own wine and spirit ice cream right here in the city.
What began as a flavour experiment with Peach Schnapps and gelato has become a popular menu item for Gelaterie Pierino, with their selection of wine and liquor infused frozen delights growing to eleven different flavours. The alcoholic gelato isn't regularly stocked in-store, but can always be specially ordered, for events or for at-home enjoyment.
The different flavours offered by Gelaterie Pierin all vary in alcohol content, as it depends on the brand of alcohol used. What to take away from all of this, however, is yes, wine infused ice cream/gelato is available in Montreal and you can enjoy a bowl this holiday season.
Here is a list of the flavours of alcoholic gelato currently offered by Gelaterie Pierino, which again, do need to be specially ordered:
Merlot w/ raspberries
Bailey's Irish Cream
Frangelico with chestnuts
Grandmarinier with orange sorbet
Eggnog Gelato (special holiday flavour)
Marsala wine (special holiday flavour)
This holiday season, enjoy two comforts at the same time, and get some wine, beer, cocktail, and liquor-infused gelato at Gelaterie Pierin. Head to Gelaterie Pierin's Facebook page here for more details.
As yes, when it's that time of the month every girl know what's coming... food, food, and more food. When we girls PSM, we crave weird and delicious foods. And honestly, thank god we live in Montreal! They have a great selection of weird, wild, and darn right delightful food that you can't get anywhere else.
The list below composes of some of the best PMS food and where you can find them right here in Montreal. For some of you, you are probably PMSing right now! So, I hope that this list doesn't make your cravings worse because I'm craving them right now and I'm not even PMSing, sorry in advance.
These foods are sweet and fatty but we girls need a break once it comes to PMSing. So, sit back, relax, eat that weird meal of yours and embrace your period pains!

YASSSSSSS!!!! Cake is the clear, obvious, and most delicious food to have when you are PMSing. The best pie and cake in Montreal is for sure from Rockabbery's! They have a great selection of fresh pies and even better cheesecakes!
When you're depressed after a bad breakup, you have two cures: ice cream, with all of its comforting fat and sugar, and tons of alcohol, which may make you more sad in the long run but does allow for brief moments of "who gives a fuck that bastard sucked anyway." Normally you'd have to enjoy one and the other, but Mercer's Ice Cream in New York has fused the two in their own line of Wine Infused Ice Cream.
Many thanks to Petit Petit Gamin who opened our minds to the magical world of wine infused ice cream, which, we want to make sure you note, is not wine "flavoured" ice cream. No, this is the real deal, with a pint of Mercer's special blend containing a legit 5% alcohol content. So yes, you can eat a big bowl and get a serious wine-buzz on.
Mercer's wine infused ice cream comes in 7 different flavours: Cherry Merlot, Chocolate Cabernet, Peach White Zinfandel, Port, Red Raspberry Chardonnay, Spiced and Riesling. All sound amazing, and we'd love to get our spoons in a bowl of at least one flavour (dibs on Chocolate Cabernet) but, unfortunately, Mercer's "winecream" isn't available outside of their upstate New York store. International vendors are apparently "coming soon," and Athena knows we'll be waiting.
