It's Official, Montreal's First Ever Cat Cafe To Open In July 2014

North America's first cat cafe now has an official address and opening date. Right here in Montreal, CaféChat l’Heureux will open its doors  this July, situated just east of St. Laurent on Duluth (map) in the Plateau. Summer will be the purrfect time to be a cat lover and coffee addict, as many of us are, if not both.

The idea of a cat cafe may seem strange, but they're all the rage in Japan, and Montreal should be proud to claim the first in North America. A combo cat-haven and coffee shop, CaféChat l’Heureux will have all the usual cafe accouterments (tea, pastries, espresso, etc.) but will also promote feline awareness and facilitate the adoption of cats without a home.

Enjoy the ambiance of the cats, otherwise known as "cat therapy" and reach new levels of cafe-relaxation. Don't worry, strict santitaion regulations will be followed to ensure you don't get a hairball in your latte.

Originally just a pipe-dream, the idea behind CaféChat l’Heureux sparked like wildfire, and hundreds of Montrealers quickly got on board in support of the project. In less than three months $ 43,000 dollars were raised via indiegogo, leading to this exciting announcement.

Find out everything you need to know about CaféChat l’Heureux on their website and FB page. Be sure to check back for the official opening date!

See you in July cat lovers.
