It's Official, Montreal's STM Network Is Getting More Metro Stations
What was a pipe-dream is slowly becoming reality, as the STM's plan for the extension of the Blue Line was officially approved last Friday.
The approval comes from the L'Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) with the plan extending metro stations towards Anjou on the Blue Line.
Construction on the extension of the Blue Line, however, isn't expected until 2025, reports JDM.
Five new stations are currently planned, extending east from Saint-Michel station: Pie-IX, Viau, Lacordaire, Langelier and Anjou.
The extension will be about 5.5km in length and cost about 3$ billion.
But the approval process isn't done quite yet. The metro-extension-plan still needs to be sent to the Ministère des Transports, de la Mobilité durable et de l'Électrification des transports du Québec (MTMDET) to be approved.
There's no cause to believe the MTMDET won't approve the Blue Line metro extension, so we should be seeing more Montreal metro stations in the near future.
