It's Official, Spring Is Coming Early To Montreal This Year!

Brace yourself, drinking on terrasses in the sun is coming.

Groundhog day started back in the 1800's. When groundhogs came out of their burrows early, it meant that the temperature was warming up and they could cut their hibernation short.

Over the years, groundhogs have become magical four legged meteorologists.

But there's a problem, there are several "official" groundhogs out there, and they don't always agree with each other.

There's Punxsutawney Phil, Staten Island Chuck, Smith Lake Jake Buckeye Chuck, General Beauregard Lee and Shubenacadie Sam, just to name a few.

Punxsutawney Phil who didn't predict an early spring, but he's all the way in Pennsylvania. I trust Canadian groundhogs more than the american ones anyways.

Shubenacadie Sam from Nova Scotia made one of the earliest predictions of the day, so let's see what he had to say this morning:

So it's official, Spring is supposed to come early this year. Now let's just all hope mother nature cooperates.
