That's right, after a lot of delays, budget issues, choosing the colors, debating the rubber vs metal wheels and dealing with concerns that they are too wide and heavy for our tracks, Montreal's new STM metro cars are finally being deployed for testing. Though they'll only be available to ride in 2016!
The new trains will be on the blue and orange lines starting today (August 25th) so chances are you'll be spotting one on your way home from work or school today. The trains will also be deployed on the green line in the next few months - again, not available for riding until 2016.
Since the trains are still being tested, each one will have a maintenance crew on board to deal with any problems that may arise. Not the most comforting thought in the world but then again, what could possibly go wrong?
