Laval is only a short commute away from Montreal and quickly adding to its collection of some of the trendiest spots in the metropolitan area. Westwood Grill & Bar is the newest player on the block. This restaurant within the Place Bell, next to Montmorency orange line station, will make you feel like you're in 1960s Palm Springs and the pictures are enough to have you jumping on the metro.
This project comes from by A5 agency and a female-led management team. The goal was to create a “festive restaurant,” one reason why the kitchen is open until midnight.
Josianne Beaulieu, the associate director of Westwood, told Narcity Quebec that she wants to leave the restaurant only “when people want to leave.” She hopes Westwood will attract "customers from all over the region.”
The 180 seat-restaurant was designed by Atelier Zébulon Perron, the firm behind Montreal Plaza, Le Boating Club and the exceptionally gorgeous Marcus Four Seasons.
One side of the restaurant offers a cozy bar section with a snack menu. On the other side, there is a colourful dining room filled with cacti, palm leaves, enormous booths and towering mirrors.
The open kitchen divides the two spaces and gives off a luxurious, old-glamour vibe. Not to mention the adorable, retro-style bathrooms perfect for those beloved bathroom selfies.
The décor will give you the illusion of being in Palm Springs and the food will have your taste buds joining the party.
The menu is nothing short of spectacular. "At Westwood," the website states, "anything is allowed: sweet and full-bodied, earth and sea, grilled and raw."
There is a large raw section that includes carpaccio and tataki as well as a variety of meats, such as pork ribs, veal chop, and steak. And who can forget seafood? Tuna steak, shrimp, and cod are among the favourites at this eatery.
This is an opportunity to experience Californian cuisine with an Asian twist. Westwood combines fresh aromas and savoury flavours with a festive atmosphere, making it an epic spot to check off your "must try" list!
