Living in Montreal and going out Friday and Saturday night is a huge part of your life as soon as you turn eighteen years old (probably even before). This is basically when life happens, you work all week to get here and your gonna live it up as hard as you can. Being a girl and going downtown is pretty much one of the hardest things you can go through, a side from child birth. Pretty much an all night event that usually begins right after work on a Friday that lasts right up until you actually get to where your going. As ladies, the majority of us don't just wake up looking hot as hell it takes work, time and energy. Here are the ten struggles every girl goes through before going out.
1. Make Sure Your Hair Is Perfect
Having perfect mermaid hair is every girls dream, we want to look like we just stepped out of the ocean and discovered we now have legs to dance on. Guess what it's not always easy to achieve the perfect wave it takes a lot out of you especially if you are working solo. You usually end up looking like a lion who really needs to tame their mane. Your best option is to beg your best friend who is somehow a magician when it comes to curling hair to do it for you, and this usually ends up in an argument. The way to avoid this struggle/argument is to ask well in advance, preferably early morning as to ensure her magical hands will be at your disposal.
2. Impeccable Make Up
Putting your face on before doing anything is basically just a part of life, but we must take extra time and consideration due the fact that their is almost a guarantee of photos being taken at some point in the evening. Probably the most frustrating aspect of getting ready would be top eyeliner problems, the chance of smudging is so high and no guarantee of perfection. This is incredibly stressful for any woman. It cannot be too thin, too thick and must be even on both sides; no exceptions.

3. Making Sure You Are Properly Fed
Ensuring that you have a good sustainable meal before a night of drinking and debauchery is extremely important. The last thing you want is to blow chunks all over the dance floor when you were looking fly as fuck. You want it to be a good night, one that you mildly remember and don't wish to forget. However you don't want to stuff your face too hard and then end up feeling extremely bloated and not at all ready to pound back shots. Be careful.
4. How Are You Getting Downtown?
Figuring out how you are actually going to make it to your destination is a big weight on all girls shoulders when getting ready for the evening. Bus and metro is an option but if you are looking classy as hell their is no chance of BMW (bus metro walk) to the club. Someone, definitely not you will have to suck it up and be designated driver in turn making her a miserable bitch and bringing down the entire clique for the evening. Designated mama bear looking after her cubs all night long is not your idea of a killer night.

5. Deciding Where And With Who You Will Pre Drink
Jenna wants to pre drink at her boyfriends new loft downtown, while Sarah wants to go to her newest flings Griffintown apartment and Melissa is single as fuck. She just wants to get laid so she doesn't really care where they go as long there's shots and cute boys. So many choices and compromises to be had, someone is not going to be happy one way or another.

6. Changing Clothes Sufficient Amount Of Times
After all of this deciding has been made, it is time for the true test of putting everything together; the outfit. You may have picked it out at some point during the week, or even made a special trip to the mall to get something new and fresh for the evening. However there is something not looking right, maybe aunt flo is about to come to town and you aren't feeling so hot right now. You will most likely change your outfit a few times before deciding on what you originally had planned to wear in the first place.

The closer you come to leaving the house for good, the more you begin to question going out in the first place, is your hair okay? makeup? outfit? It is all a little overwhelming at this point. You go from super excited to not and back again. A roller coaster of emotions set in until someone suggests shots and the vodka touches your lips and you know it's probably going to be okay.

8. Preparing The Clutch
Making sure you have EVERYTHING before you leave the house is so freaking important it's not even a joke. Your ID's, lipstick, tampons you never know. Tampons are actually super important not only for yourself, but to help others. You can end up making an everlasting friendship solely based on the fact that you grabbed some extra tampons to share with fellow females that may be caught in an unforeseen situation. Don't forget anything because once you leave their is no going back.

9. Photo Shoot
By this time you are all set to go, all that's left is the inevitable photo shoot that must take place before you exit and get too sloshed to even remember to snap a cute photo of all your efforts put together. You ask a parent or sibling maybe even a dog to take some pics of you and the crew looking hot as hell. But you will most likely retake it a good ten times to ensure the best angles possible. Meticulous preparation goes into each shot.

10. Rethinking Your Entire Existence
You are about step outside, a toe reaches the threshold and you glance quick in the mirror and you think hell to the no, something ain't right. You begin to re think everything, your hair, make up and outfit you are sent spinning into over drive and run back in with every intention of not coming back out. You rip off your clothes and change your hair and your friends basically want to kill you in every sense but are attempting to calm you down. You yell and scream and probably shed a few tears, thank god you put on water proof mascara.
