Poutine is truly a magical dish. Warming, comforting, and very filling, a poutine is more than just a dish, it's a gift to your soul and stomach. Okay, maybe that's a tad bit too poetic for the fry-gravy-cheese combo, though this Sunday, certain Montrealers may truly see poutine in such a magical light.
On Sunday, December 21st, La Bêtise, a Quebec-Asian fusion restaurant in Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie, is taking to the streets of Montreal and handing out free poutines to the homeless population of Montreal. 200 free General Tao Poutines (a La Bêtise specialty) will be donated to the hungry, a way for the resto to give back to the community this holiday season.
La Bêtise does not want to be alone in their initiative to better the city of Montreal. The many volunteers made up of La Bêtise's staff & owners hope to incite a new movement in the restaurant industry, and are asking other resto's in the city to also give back and help out the less fortunate of Montreal. If you work in a resto or happen to be an owner, watch out for the hashtag #LaBêtiseChallenge, a call to action to help out the city of Montreal.
The first #LeBêtiseChallenge will be held this Sunday, December 21st, with 200 poutines given out to people who are homeless in Montreal. Let's hope La Bêtise is not alone in this endeavor. Find out more about the restaurant by heading to the Facebook page here.
