Watching Christmas/holiday-themed movies is a seasonal tradition, and it's really the only time of the year you can get away with watching Arnie Schwarzenegger's "Jingle All The Way" without looking like a weirdo. Don't watch alone this Xmas season, as Merry Montreal is giving you the chance to watch a few iconic Xmas films (no Arnie unfortunately) with friends for free during "The Holiday Flicks" outdoor film screening series.
Going down at Place D'Youville (map) in Old Montreal, The Holiday Flicks screenings will be an outdoor event on the weekend, with plenty of blankets and hot chocolate offered to help keep you warm while you watch.
Admission is entirely free, and the screenings will begin on December 20th, then take a brief pause to resume on January 2nd to 4th. All the movies will be played in French, which isn't the greatest for the strict Anglos reading, though it does offer a chance to bone up on your French with some familiar Xmas classics, or just giggle at the odd translations.
Check out the schedule of films below, and head to the Merry Montreal event listing for more details.
- Home Alone/Maman, j'ai raté l'avion - December 20th
- The Polar Express/Le Pole Express - December 21st
- Mystery Film - January 2nd
- National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation/Le sapin a des boules - January 3rd
- A Christmas Story/ Une histoire de Noël - January 4th
