How many times have you been talking to someone and needed to take 3 steps back because you literally just inhaled their bad breath and thought you were going to DIE? Too many times? Well, don’t think this is a one-way highway; the same goes for you. Surprisingly, there are many things that cause bad breath such as: diet, skipping breakfast, medications, mouth breathing, infections, and then the obvious ones like smoking and alcohol. However, did you know there are natural ways to help your breath improve from pungent to bearable? And since the legendary midnight kiss for New Years is vast approaching, why not take the time to freshen your breath, naturally? Here is a list of foods that you want to absolutely consume to improve your oral health.
They help remove plaque from teeth and also makes the mouth generate more saliva. Saliva is rich in oxygen, which is a natural enemy of odor-causing bacteria in the mouth.
Suggestion: Have an apple for breakfast to curb morning breathe.
2. Greek Yogurt
Greek Yogurt lowers the hydrogen sulfide in your mouth. The reason dairy is able to reduce the production of hydrogen sulfide is because it has live bacterial cultures. These bacterial cultures kill off germs and rebuild your enamel.
Suggestion: Have it after lunch to ensure your getting rid of the hinge of garlic you had for lunch.
Its strong pungent aroma gives you a fresher breath. There is an essential oil in cinnamon that prevents bacteria from settling. There are tons of recipes online to make your own cinnamon mouth wash which are very effective. Or simply chewing on a cinnamon stick works fine as well.

Green tea contains an antioxidant called catechins and they are known to get rid of the bacteria that causes bad breath also known as a “disease-fighting flavonoids.”
Suggestion: Drink it mid-afternoon before supper time. This will also aid in the digestion of your last meal.
Parsley is known to sweeten the salvia in your mouth providing a softer odor. Instead of tossing your parsley out you can nibble on it to ensure that you are in fact putting it to good use! It’s anti-inflammatory properties help neutralize toxins and pollutants.
Suggestion: Add it to stews and vegetable dishes.
Remember, if you take care of your oral hygiene – you can essentially knock off 6.4 years of aging. Remember to brush your teeth twice daily, floss, and visit your dentist regularly. Stay away from over-consumption of processed foods, high-sugary drinks, and cigarettes. A beautiful smile goes a long way.
