Walmart Canada, or how I like to call it "Wally World," is a goliath of a superstore where you can literally find everything but the kitchen sink (actually I just looked it up and they do, in fact, sell kitchen sinks).
Walmart's brand has always been synonymous with "savings" and "low price."
If you love saving a buck, it's worth downloading the app and browsing the online site and using some of the following tips that, over time, will help you save a bundle.
1. Buy groceries online and get them delivered straight to your door or schedule a store pick up!
Canadians can buy all their groceries online at Walmart.ca and schedule a pick up in stores or even have their groceries delivered straight to their doors.
2. Always browse the Walmart "flyer" which is always changing with new deals
This is the "old school" way of shopping for deals, now it's available online at Walmart.ca. Check out the flyer here. You will be prompted to enter your zip code and the Walmart flyer for the store nearest you will pop up. On the flyer, you will find all the best savings of the week. This is a great way to plan your trip ahead of time and write up a shopping list.
3. Price tags ending in 0 or 1 are final sale
If a price reads as a flat $2.00 or $3.00 it's considered "final sale" at Walmart. Also, it's necessary to keep in mind if you're shopping for the best deal. Prices ending with a 7 are full price. Prices ending with a 5 are the first markdown price. So, if you see a price ending with a 5 and there are tons of inventory left, it might be worth waiting because usually these items will get further marked down.
4. When you use coupons valued at more than a given item’s retail price, Walmart will offer a "credit" you can use on other items
This is a great Walmart hack for saving a couple bucks. For example, let's say you buy a jug of orange juice at $1.50 and your coupon is for $2.00 off one jug, Walmart gives you 50 cents "overage" toward your other purchases.
5. Always peel back the clearance sticker and check previous prices, they might be lower
Word on the street is when you spot a bright yellow "clearance" sticker on an item, you might want to try peeling it back. Although this might seem counter-intuitive, doing this might reveal an original price that's actually lower! Another way to save a couple bucks.
6. For the best deals on electronics, always check for "Roll Back" prices
Walmart is a great place to shop for affordable electronics. Whether it's a TV, laptop, or printer, when shopping online at Walmart.ca you need to tick off the box that says "rollback" prices in the "online savings" filters. You will then only see the items that are on special! You can also shop thousands of rollback prices regardless of department HERE.
7. If you want to check out all the top clearance deals in every department, search "clearance" on Walmart.ca
Clearance prices are generally the lowest of the low at Walmart. They are essentially trying to get rid of this merchandise, so prices are so low, they are practically giving it away. To access all the items on clearance just type in "clearance" into the search bar at Walmart.com or click here.
8. 3-days after any holiday, seasonal items jump to 90% off
This is standard practice in retail. However, Walmart's discounts on post-holiday items are crazy good, up to 90% off to be precise. If you want to take advantage of these savings, buy your decoration sa year ahead of time and save a bundle.
