8 Ways To Feel Like Tony Stark In Montreal
'And then shawarma after.'
Tony Stark: genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, and everyone’s favourite superhero. With his droll vanity, impulsive tendencies and playboy persona, Tony is a breath of fresh air within the superhero genre, defying the typical hero archetype and showing audiences that anyone- even a textbook narcissist- can be a hero. From his cunning to his charisma, Tony has a host of qualities to look up to, and walking in his footsteps can be an excellent way to channel some extra confidence, to boost your brainpower or, of course, to simply have a good time.
Here are 8 ways to feel like Tony Stark in Montreal:
1. Check out the Faculty of Engineering at McGill University
Rather than selfish, I’d argue Tony Stark’s most defining feature is that he’s self-made. Unlike other superheroes like Thor or Superman, Tony had to create his powers for himself. Alongside Jarvis and Butterfingers in that epic basement engineering lab, he built a suit capable of rivalling even the craziest of antler-clad super villains. To channel Tony’s innovative and industrial skills, check out the race cars and robotic arms of McGill’s Faculty of Engineering. Who knows— you may be applying for admission by the end of the day!
2. Go go-karting at Action 500
Although go-karting may not quite match the charged atmosphere of a real race track, it’s the next best thing. At Action 500, you can recreate the Circuit de Monaco scene from Iron Man 2, zipping go-karts around the track Formula One style. Note: If you see a whip-handed Micky Rourke on the course, avoid him.
3. Go skydiving at Parachute Montreal
Unless you have the brains to build the suit or the money to rent a jet pack, the closest you’ll get to flying Iron Man style is skydiving. At Parachute Montreal, you can emulate Tony’s epic Stark Expo entrance at the beginning of Iron Man 2, or his less epic free fall from space in The Avengers— but in your case, the Hulk won’t be there to catch you. Either way, skydiving is an experience you won’t soon forget.
4. Tour a Westmount mansion
Though Montreal has no Malibu mansions, we do have Westmount. To channel the billionaire portion of this playboy-philanthropist, take an open house tour of one of these opulent mansions and imagine, if just for the tour, that you can afford to live there.
5. Party it up at Complexe Sky’s rooftop terrasse
If there’s one thing Tony knows how to do besides mechanical engineering, thermonuclear astrophysics and, you know, the other usual stuff, it’s party. Whether he’s hosting death-bed birthdays in his Malibu mansion or rooftop parties atop the Avengers Tower, an invitation to one of Iron Man’s parties is something you’d definitely want to accept. Although Complexe Sky isn’t the Avengers Tower, it does have a rooftop terrasse you can party on, Earth's Mightiest Heroes style.
6. Test drive an Audi at Audi Montreal
Where Bond has the classic drink, Stark has the classic car. Always driving an Audi, Tony never travels out of style, whether speeding along California's coastline or through a rubble-strewn New York City. At Audi Montreal, you can test drive one of their many sleek sports cars. If you get a nice salesperson, they might even let you play some AC/DC while you’re driving.
7. Get some shawarma at Boustan
Naturally, the first thing on Tony’s mind after nearly falling to his death in The Avengers was shawarma. At Boustan, you can try some of this deliciously roasted meat for yourself. To emulate the post-credit scene of The Avengers, bring a host of your friends, seat yourselves smack in the middle of the restaurant, and munch in a satisfied, post-world-saving silence.
8. Play some craps at Casino de Montreal
Before the cave, the suit and the superheroes, Tony was a playboy with a questionable moral compass, skipping out on his own award-ceremony to play craps at a casino. If you feel like channeling the playboy portion of this genius-billionaire, don some tinted sunglasses, let out the leash on your ego and head to Casino de Montreal to try your luck.
