December isn't only full of holiday cheer, it's also rife with events to partake that won't cost you a single dime. Good thing, too, because, as we all know, Christmas (or whatever holiday you're celebrating in the coming weeks) can get a little pricey. Buying presents, ugly sweaters, and plenty of rum & eggnog can drain your wallet, but a carriage ride through the Plateau won't.
Add this to your ongoing list of free things to do this December in Montreal, because L'Avenue de Mont-Royal is offering gratis horse and buggy rides on the busy Plateau street of its namesake (so Mont-Royal avenue) on weekends throughout the month.
A special offering put on in collaboration with Noël dans le Parc, the free horse driven Christmas sleigh ride will leave off from Place Gérald Godin (map) and will end at Parc des Compagnons (map). Below are the hours of operation for the offered free sleigh rides:
- Saturday December 6th + 13th + 20th from 1pm to 5pm
- Sunday, December 7th + 14th + 21st from 1pm to 5pm
Romantic and oh-so-Christmas-y, this is one holiday activity that will definitely be enjoyable (while earning you some brownie points with bae) and not cost a penny. Be ready for the smell of horse poop, however.
