Even though you may be able to skate to work/school, the icy sidewalks aren't a true substitute for a real skating rink. One would think that with all of the ice everywhere the city's many skating rinks would all be open, but the oposite is true. Thankfully, one page will tell you the status of your borough's rink.

Right on the Ville de Montreal's website, you can find out if the skating rink closest to you is open, cleared, sprayed, resurfaced, and its overall condition. Skating rinks are divided by borough, which will make your life easier the next time you want to go skating and don't feel like hauling it to the Old Port or Olympic Stadium.

Find out the status of your skating rink here and in French here.
