Mile End is going to become much more musical, and a hotbed for dancing, with the dawn of the 3rd annual Montreal Flamenco Festival on Sunday. A full 7-day festival of flamenco performances of all sorts, this will be your chance to experience the Spanish folk music and dance form without having to leave the city.
The Flamenco Festival will begin in a big way on Sunday, as Bernard Street will be transformed into the site for a full-blown "Flamenco Day." Bernard will be blocked off to host a bunch of free and interactive activities for all skill levels, with a flamenco photography exhibition also held all day at Le Depanneur Cafe.
Once night falls, the professional performances begin at the Rialto Theatre, where Montreal's flamenco school will show off there stuff. From Sunday on 'til September 10th, experimental flamenco shows and band performances will take place at La Sala Rossa. Thursday's performances will take place at Cabaret du Mile-End, with the final day of the festival's festivities to be held at the Rialto Theatre once more. The last performance will also be a combo 5 à 7, an extra reason to attend.
Montreal's 3rd Flamenco Festival begins this Sunday, September 7th and runs 'til Saturday, September 13th. You can find out more about the individual performances and general info at the official website here.
