Skating season is nearly upon us. News broke yesterday that the Big O's esplanade will be turned into a giant skating rink, and today the Old Port of Montreal has announced the opening date for its own refrigerated rink. You can skate to your hearts content while looking out at the St. Lawrence starting November 30th.
From the 29th onward, the Old Port skating rink will be open every day with musical performances being held every evening at 6pm, with each day being a different genre of music. To access the rink you will need to pay, though you can get a discounted pass from now 'til the 28th, which will be valid until spring.
The pre-sale discount clocks in at $29 from the standard $31, but also includes a free pass to the Science Centre and a free IMAX ticket to Telus Theatre, which is worth nearly 30 bucks itself. If a lot of skating is in your future, get your pass here.
The Old Port Skating rink will be open to the public starting November 30th, during the following hours:
- November 29 to March 8, 2015: M-W from 10am to 9pm + Th-Sun from 10am to 10pm
- December 20 to January 5, 2015: 10 am to 10 pm everyday
- December 31: open until 2 am
