Montreal's Olympic Park is really pulling out all the stops this winter, and not just for the holidays. With the help of Pépinière & Co., a Montreal non-profit all about repurposing public spaces into venues of cultural entertainment, the Olympic Park will be transformed into "L’hivernale," a free weekend winter festival full of food and fun.
Beginning on December 31st and lasting until March 7th, the Olympic Park's Esplanade Financière Sun Life will become an outdoor party every Friday & Saturday (4pm-11pm) that combines the best elements of Montreal culture, namely food, music, and partying.
Each weekend an outdoor bar will be open to the public to enjoy as they dance to the tunes of on-site DJs. For the less party-inclined, two alleys of Bavarian curling will be set up, along with the Olympic Park's new refrigerated outdoor skating rink. From twenty-nothings, to parents, to children will all have stuff to do at L'hivernale.
Making sure everyone has something to eat during the weekend event, a series of chefs will be crafting street food menus that mirror the cuisines of the most famous Nordic cities. A new chef will be making the menu every week, making sure the flavours are always fresh, and with street food prices to go along with the menu, you'll be able to afford to come back to try out the new foods.
Hivernale at the Olympic Park will run every Friday and Saturday from 4pm-11pm starting on December 31st and lasting 'til March 7th. You can find more details by heading to the Facebook page here. Check out the map of the site below as a preview.
