Magical lights and the festive vibe of the holidays are invading Place des Festivals, with the area to be transformed into the "Luminothérapie" winter-themed carnival of lights. From December 10th and all the way to next February, Luminothérapie will make the downtown area a vertiable winter wonderland with plenty of vibrant art installations enjoyable for young and old alike.
The major art installation to be set up within the Luminothérapie grounds will be the "Prismatica" interactive-outdoor exhibit. Made up of 50 two meter-tall prisms, the installation will look like a giant ice garden, that you can actively engage with by moving the many giant prisms. Pivot a prism and witness the colours change and blend (which will be accompanied by ambient sounds), making for a pretty fun and aesthetically pleasing art display.
Lighting up downtown with the sounds and energy of an old school carnival (AHS fans will appreciate) will be the Fascinoscope digital projections. Eight buildings will be lit up to provide the atmosphere of a carnival, with Saint-Laurent metro also gaining an interactive projection-installation. Right outside the metro, 4 light projections will be set up, all inspired by classic carnival games, which you can actually play by hitting the pear-shaped balls equipped with sensors set up right in front of each projection.
Place des Festivals will become Luminothérapie on December 10th and will run until February 2nd. Get more info by heading to the official event listing here.
