Okay, so, I'll be frank and apologize before we begin, because the Montreal SNES symphony presented by L'Orchestre de Jeux Vidéos (both shows, tonight + tomorrow) is actually sold out. I know, I know, I wanted to hear my favourite 8-bit tunes performed by an entire orchestra too, but sometimes the world is a cruel place. Don't get too down in the dumps though, because another concert of the same sort is coming up in Montreal.
Montreal's L'Orchestre de Jeux Vidéos (OVJ) is joining forces with L'Orchestre à Vents de Musiques de Films (OVMF) in a few months to put on the Star Wars VS Final Fantasy concert, which will surely be an auditory nerdgasms for all those involved, so get excited.
Video game tunes from the Final Fantasy franchise will go up against iconic Star Wars tracks for a joint concert of geeky intensity. The OVJ will take the FF side, while the OVMF will rep Star Wars, with songs intermixed at the close of the concert. Think of it like one-part rap battle, one-part mash up, just with orchestras and nerd culture. Okay, so nothing like a rap battle, but you know what I mean.
So while you may be sad you can't attend the SNES concert, rest easy knowing you will still be able to hit up the FF Vs Star Wars concert on April 4th, which will be double the amount of awesome. Get more details at the OVJ's Facebook page here.
