You may have seen pictures of our PM Mr. Trudeau there this past summer celebrating the 10th anniversary of the temple with the Hindu community of Ontario.
The word "mandir" means place of worship. And Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a sacred temple, located in Etobicoke Ontario, not too far outside downtown Toronto. This stunning structure has attracted thousands to visit. Engineers, students, architects, artists, have all been awe-struck by the sheer size and beauty of this place.
This temple was built with the Hindu communities love for Canada. It took 6,000 tons of marble and stone and 1500 people to hand carve all the pieces to bring together this divine place.
Located right outside of Pearson International Airport - Toronto's major and international airport - the Mandir is the first thing many first time visitors to Canada will see when driving out of the airport.
Before visiting though, be sure to check out their visitors guide in order to be sure that you're being sensitive and conscious of the rich cultural heritage of the space.
