Whoever said opposites attract, was way off in this case.

It's been a while now, that I've been looking at couples and seeing something that they shared in common. The couples that stayed together the longest, kind of resembled each other.

Don't get creeped out here, but there's something about having similar features with your partner that dictates wether or not you will stay together.

I didn't make this up.

"Convergence in the physical appearances of spouses" is a study attempted to determine wether couples who lived together for a long period of time, starting to resemble each other. They photographed couples for a period of years, and indeed the results showed that there is an increase in apparent similarity after 25 years of cohabitation.

According to a study cited in the New York Magazine, what we search for in a partner, is someone who looks like us.

A study was published in the early 1970's in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, were men and women were asked to judge the faces of 60 different couples (some were real, and some were fake). Turns out from a 1-9 point scale (1 being no similarity and 9 being similar), the real couples averaged at 4 while the non-couples got a rating of 3.5.

Concluded the study: “The results suggest that the observation of facial resemblance among couples appears to reflect a real phenomenon.”

Look closely.

Okay, they might've not dated for such a long period of time - but you can't tell me they've got the exact same bone structure and facial features.
