I once dated a guy who had the most beautiful skin and hair. It was SUPER soft and extra shiny. Eventually, I found out what his secret was...And it's not the usual "drink lots of water and get your beauty sleep"... He used a special kind of oil every single day...some of you guessed it others are still waiting... Ladies and gentlemen, why we should all be in love with the coco-nut.

I was so intrigued by this mysterious potion, that I just had to do some research. Turns out the secret is out, and everyone's on it except for me. Let's just say, right after that I ordered a gallon of coconut oil from Amazon.

If you want to know what else you can do with it, here's a condensed list... For more details you can check out the full article here.

Let's get moisturizing!

1. Face wash/ home-made soap

Have you ever tried rubbing coconut oil on your face? Well here's how to: add olive, almond, avocado, castor and coconut oil mixed in equal parts and use in place of soap when washing your face.

2. Before and after shave

Because of its substance, coconut oil will help heal your skin after shaving without clogging pores.

3. Makeup Remover

I have replaced my $36  Lancôme oil-based make up remover for coconut oil. It works even better and my lashes feel replenished and softer.

4. Body Scrub

Turn it into an exfoliator by mixing it with salt.

5. Moisturizer

Put it EVERYWHERE, literally. Often lotions are water-based and can dry out your skin even more, which is not the case with oil which moisturizes thoroughly and gets into the pores.

6. Burns

Another heading compound, this oil is known to reduce the chances of permanent scarring and will even heal faster.

7. Eye cream

Use it under the eyes to reduce puffiness, bags and wrinkles.

8. Dandruff

Because of its oily/fatty substance, coconut oil soaks into the scalp moisturizing dry skin and relieves symptoms of dandruff.

9. Deodorant

Yes, it actually works as a deodorant. They say it's even more effective if you combine it with cornstarch/arrowroot powder and baking soda.

10. Chapstick

Better than your usual Chapstick brand, because it's COCONUT based. Enough said, it smells good and you actually eat it.

11. Acne

Use a pea sized amount underneath makeup or alone to reduce oil gland stimulation. Often acne prone skin is actually too dry, which signals your glands to produce more oil and clogs the pores.

12. Leave-in conditioner/ Deep Treatment

You can use as a leave-in hair conditioner by applying a teaspoon of coconut oil to your ends and then running your fingers through your hair to distribute the rest. For a deeper treatment, rub in a tablespoon of coconut oil onto your dry scalp and gently work through to the ends. Put a shower cap on to prevent transfer onto bed linens and leave on overnight.

13. Hair Gel/ Defrizzer

Rub a little between your palms and either scrunch into hair (for curly hair) or finger comb in through from scalp to ends (for wavy/straight hair).

14. Healing

When applied on scrapes and cuts, coconut oil forms a thin, chemical layer which protects the wound from outside dust, bacteria and virus. Coconut oil speeds up the healing process of bruises by repairing damaged tissues. Plus, the smell is heavenly, unlike usual medical creams.

15. Lubricant

It is an all-natural, perfectly safe personal lubricant for... well you know. (Although it is not compatible with latex).

16. Baldness

combine coconut oil with lavender, rosemary, thyme, cedarwood, Jojoba oil, Grapeseed/ castor oil and a little cayenne pepper. Apply three times a day (or before bed) to affected area of hair loss and massage in. Coconut oil and these essential oils supports cell regeneration.

17. Massage Oil

The texture makes for a great massage oil, use in small quantity because it can get very oily up in here!

18. Bruises

applied directly to the bruise, coconut oil enhances the healing process by reducing swelling and redness.

19. Cooking oil

Most obvious use of coconut oil is in the kitchen... it tastes good with anything and healthier than olive or canola oil.

20. Age spots

Studies have found that using coconut oil can reduce oil spots. Give it a try!

21. Various skin conditions

It is proven that coconut oil can relieves skin problems such as psoriasis, dermatitis, and eczema.

22. Diminishes stretch marks

I can vouch for this one. Rub a tablespoon of coconut oil in the areas that have signs of stretch march (such as the stomach or upper thigh) and you will notice a HUGE difference if used continuously for a long period of time.

23. Relieves sun burns

It soothes the skin and acts like a cooler for sun burns.

24. Sunscreen and/or tanning oil

Coconut oil has SPF 4, which is low but still more effective than regular oil.

25. and even Toothpaste!

Mix coconut oil with baking soda and dab on your toothbrush as a replacement for your usual Colgate or Crest toothpaste. Watch your teeth whiten in the next three months.

What can I say, I'm in love with the coco!
