One lucky Quebecer's life has just been completely altered, at least monetarily, after having won Loto-Québec's Lotto Max's main draw of yesterday, February 25, 2020. Their ticket left them with a prize of $70,000,000, which is more than some of us will ever make in our lifetime. Needless to say, calling this individual "lucky" seems like an understatement.
I can't even begin to wonder what I'd do if I won $70,000,000. Start my own charity? Visit every country in the world? Invest it and hope it doubles — or triples? Buy new cars for every person I've ever known?
I bet these thoughts, along with many others, are what's going on in the head of last night's winner.
I'm not one for gambling, or just giving my money away freely, but seeing winning prizes with numbers as high as the one from yesterday has me reconsidering those statements.
And, by the way, the $70,000,000 that one person won is the maximum that the jackpot can become.
On the Loto-Québec website, it explains that for Lotto Max prizes, "the jackpot starts at $10,000,000 and, if not won, grows by at least $5,000,000 per draw up to the maximum jackpot of $70,000,000."
Just yesterday, there were a total of 1,514,658 winners, whose prizes ranged from a free ticket to $70,000,000. And that was only for the Lotto Max winners. There were also 10 MaxMillion winners, who all won either $500,000 or $1,000,000.
