Massive Recalls On Salad Due To A Listeria Outbreak Are Happening All Across Canada's East Coast

Canada-wide recalls on food don't happen too often, but when they do, you better believe it's serious. In the last month there has been quite a few recalls on food due to cross-contamination or ingredients that weren't listed on the product. This can be a huge cause for concern, especially if people end up sick or in the hospital.

That's why most of us were already on edge before finding out that listeria is being found in salads all across Eastern Canada and there's an ongoing recall because of it.

The first recall was issued back on August 16 on a small scale, believed to already be contained and taken care of. As of yesterday, however, the recall was updated to extend to at least four provinces, with the status on other provinces getting the recall under investigation.

The specific product that has been confirmed to contain listeria is the Randsland Super Salad Kit. The provinces that have confirmed the massive recall are New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

As of now, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is investigating whether or not other provinces are at risk of listeria as well. From the looks of it, Quebec residents should hold off on buying salads until an update has been given.

If you've become ill due to eating a product you think is contaminated, the best thing to do is go to a doctor as soon as possible. Food thats been contaminated with listeria show no signs of being spoiled but can cause quite a few symptoms that'll make you seriously sick.

Check to see if you have any recalled products at home, if you do, throw it out or return it to the store it was purchased at for a full refund.
