When you order a Big Mac, you know exactly what you're getting- not one but two beef patties, "special sauce", lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions, served in a sesame seed bun. It's a classic, famously delicious burger. In fact, when you order anything at McDonald's you know what to expect.
TL;DR McDonald's is revamping their menu items. Going towards a more "health conscious" route, they will be removing preservatives from the ingredients in their burgers (buns, sauces, but not pickles).
Recently, McDonald's has been going towards a more health conscious route. Since 2016, they've been slowly removing unhealthy ingredients from their menu, such as artificial preservatives from the classic Chicken McNuggets and also high-fructose corn syrup from their buns.
Removing toxic ingredients and adding healthier items such as salads to their menu was an effort to appeal to a broader range of individuals (those who are health conscious).
As of yesterday, the fast food chain has announced that it will be going preservative-free with classics like the Quarter Pounder with Cheese and of course the infamous Big Mac.
McDonald's will be removing preservatives from their buns and sauces, however, their pickles still have some preservatives (you can request your burger without pickles if it's a concern for you).
I'm sure their burgers will have the same great taste, just a bit healthier, making you feel a little less guilty for indulging in one of their mouth-watering burgers.
It's difficult to say when these changes will be in effect though, since some of their sandwiches such as the Egg McMuffins and Filet-O-Fish still have preservatives, artificial colours and flavours.
