Meet Vivian Xie, The Youngest University Student In Canada

You won't believe how young she is.
Meet Vivian Xie, The Youngest University Student In Canada

You probably didn't know, but Canada has it's own Sheldon Cooper.

At the age of 7, Vivian Xie was already a math wiz and found the elementary school to be "a real torture." Her peers were just beginning to master basic geometric shapes. She had well surpassed her peers.

Vivian Xie is the youngest University Student in Canada and is making headlines around the world for her elevated academics.

Xie learned to read and write, in Mandarin, at the young age of 2 before she left China with her family and headed to Charlottetown, P.E.I.

Vivian Xie, now 13 years, young, is a student at the University of Prince Edward Island, and just finished up her first year! She began studying at the Canadian university at the age of 12.

If she continues to move along at this rate, Xie could potentially receive her degree in biology before the age of 16.

In her first year, she knocked it out of the park receiving grades above 91% in all subjects across the board! Xie said that she was expecting more stress at University, and at times thought she "didn't have enough work."

When Xie was not studying for exams, she could be found doing extra reading just to get ahead. The work ethic behind this young teenager is incredible and unmatched.

Her professor at UPEI, Larry Hale, noted that Xie is no different from any other new student. Hale had been caught by surprise when he met her, but said she behaved in a very mature way and like a student coming right out of high school.

Vivian speaks of her childhood the same way any other kid would. Except instead of speaking of sports practices, she spent her time in the library. She reads, paints, and plays ping-pong - to sum it up, she's just your average 13-year-old kid.

Vivian says her love of learning comes from her grandmother, who taught high school biology. She also says her parents never pressured her to spend time on her studies, she just loves to learn.

Whatever the reason that led Vivian Xie to be such an incredible student is not important.

This young lady is nothing short of impressive and inspiring. Reminds us that the kids are indeed the future, and I wouldn't be surprised to be hearing her name again down the road for something incredible!

Congratulations, Vivian Xie, on all your success - and best of luck moving forward, though I highly doubt you need luck with a brain like yours.
