Money Makes Quebecers More Stressed Out Than Anything Else

If only we all had more of it
Money Makes Quebecers More Stressed Out Than Anything Else

Money may make the world go round, but for Quebecers, it’s also a major source of anxiety.

A study conducted by l’Institut québécois de planification financière (IQPF) has found that money is what makes Quebecers more stressed out than anything else.

The survey, involving over 1000 Quebecers, found that 31% of respondents are most stressed out by money and personal finances. Work was a far second (21%) source of stress and health an even farther third (10%).

How does this money-related stress manifest?

According to the survey, 41% of respondents develop anxiety when money is on the mind. The stress of money also bears down on relationships, as 29% of participants said money causes arguments between couples. 26% said insomnia is a direct consequence of money-woes, too.

Interestingly, 78% of Quebecers involved in the survey said that they feel fairly-to-very in control of their personal finances.

Stress about money, it seems, can be experienced by anyone. Even those of us who can actually stick to a budget.

To offset the anxiety, arguments, and lack of sleep caused by money-related stress, the president and CEO of IQPF, Jocelyne Houle-LeSarge, says a financial planner may be the solution.

“A financial planner helps reduce anxiety and build confidence in the future” said Houle-LeSarge.

Now all you need is enough money to pay for a financial planner to reduce your stress about not having enough money…

It’s a vicious cash-driven cycle.
