Trying to find a job in the fashion industry might seem like a daunting task, especially if it's your first attempt. President of the Concordia Fashion Business Association, Klara Mancini-Hupel, was kind enough to offer some advice for budding Montreal fashionistas who are in a competitive industry.

"First, you have to get out there and go to fashion events because that's when you'll meet the most people. Don't be afraid to go alone! Be curious and continuously explore new ways to get involved with the industry. You should try and figure out which aspect of the industry makes you the most excited and find learn as much about it as you can," she says.

"Use social media to stay in touch with the people you meet in the industry. When you get someone's email, actually email them and establish a link! Also, you should never turn away that retail job because you will learn so much about how to deal with customers and point-of-sale systems."
