Osheaga isn't the only outdoor summer party to happen this week, as Divers/Cité kicks off and runs until August 3rd. Divers/Cité is an outdoor event held principally at Quai Jaque Cartier, with other events littered around Montreal. Look forward to awesome DJ sets, fierce drag queens, and fun day drunk times to be had dancing outside in the Old Port.
A La Plage
Get the weekend started right this Thursday with an outdoor DJ set featuring Alain Jackinsky and Nico Concerto. Both are staples of the Montreal club scene and they will be sure to get your feet moving with some sweet beats while under the sun.
Lesbomondes A la Plage
Featuring Denise Benson, one of Toronto's most prolific Djs and the woman behind Cherry Bomb, and TIZI, known for her Montreal Hot Sauce events, 'Lesbomondes A La Plage' will be an epic dance party and a showcase of talented female Djs.
Hector Romero @ Peopl
Move into some night grooves with the infamous Hector Romero. Noted for his vast array of musical influences and styles, Romero will keep the beats fresh and never make the dance floor boring
Mascara, La Nuit de Drags
It wouldn't be a queer event if some drag queens didn't walk the stage. For the sixteenth edition, North America's largest drag show, will showcase some of Montreal's top drag-talent and newcomers alike. The infamous Mado Lamotte will host, so be prepared for hilarious hijinks and tons of fierce-ness.
Sunset Party – Def Mix
In celebration of 25 years of the Def Mix label, Djs David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, Hector Romero and, for the first time in Canada, DJ Memê are joining forces to have you dancing past the sunset all the way to sunrise.
Sunday August 4th:
Refuel for another day of dancing with an indoor and outdoor brunch hosted by Divers/Cité and Les Éclusiers by APOLLO. Good people and good food, its hard to go wrong.
D/C @ Appolon
Take it indoors Sunday night at Apollon where Spain's Manuel De Diego and Canada's Josh Karmin will be spinning out beats. Both are reknowned electronic Djs and won't dissapoint.
D/C Ball @ Stereo
For those looking to end the weekend on an intense highnote at the D/C Ball. International Djs Isaac Escalante and Abel will tear up the Stereo dance floor to make you forget the fact you have to be at work in a few hours.
For full details on all of the events, check out Diver/cite's full schedule. See you on the dance floor!
While there are a million and one spots to enjoy a 5 à 7 in the city, not everywhere does happy hour quite like this Montreal restaurant in the Village.
Resto Keela serves $6 drinks from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., including house draft beer, house red or white wine, and speed rail mixed drinks, which is a choice of vodka, rye, rum, or gin — a pretty hard drink deal to beat.
As for food, you can go every week and try a different $6 dish at happy hour. "The $6 bites change from week to week but we always offer 3-5 options," owners Kristin Murphy and Johnny Hamilton told MTL Blog.
I went on September 10 and got to try green beans with a cashew romesco sauce and feta crumble, chorizo sausage, chicken Kaarage with kimchi cucumbers, and organic cherry tomato salad with blue cheese. And I kid you not when I say these dishes all take your taste buds on a culinary trip to heaven.
Keela's full menu is also filled with tons of unique dishes for you to try. The celery root carpaccio is hands down my favourite.
Every Friday night, you can hear the sweet voice of Bud Rice sing live at the restaurant.
