Montreal Getting All-New STM "Digital" Bus Shelters That Display Exactly When Your Bus Will Show Up
Today is the the day.
Smart buses offering real-time updates have officially hit the road.
130 buses to be exact, and with them comes the new Rythmo system.
This system tracks the location and schedule of buses on the STM network and transmits the information directly to passengers.

These information screen have already been added on the inside of certain buses, but now they're being installed on bus shelter as well.

So now you'll be able to know exactly how far you bus is ,and you'll be made aware of any delays or problems.
And if you aren't near a bus shelter, no worries. The project also includes a free app that will transmit live update directly to you.
This is great news because if successful, the project could make the STM more trustworthy, which would be awesome considering how unreliable people consider the bus service to be.
And hopefully the project will also encourage more people to use public transportation, which is good for everybody.
The project has officially launched in the South Shore but it's only a matter of time before it makes its way across the island.
