Montreal Is Finally Getting Air Conditioned Buses
I guess the heat from the last few days must've woken people up. It's simply too cruel to cram a bunch of commuters like sardines into a hot bus. We freak out when dogs are left in cars for more than 5 minutes, but we put ourselves through the same torture and we pay $82 a month for the privilege to do so.
There are a lucky few who already enjoy air conditioning on their bus ride to work, but it's a very small percentage. Out of 1700 buses, only 17 that are currently equipped with air conditioning.
Well now it appears a though he suffering is almost over for the rest of us because the chairman of the STM plans on buying even more air conditioned hybrid buses. Starting next year there will be at least 20 more on the roads and then another 300 to 400 over the next 3 years.
Unfortunately they have also confirmed that the metros will NOT be getting air conditioning anytime soon. However they will be spending money to improve the air circulation system.
