I think it's safe to say that August is prime food festival season. It seems that come late summer, Montrealers scramble to make the most out of the last month of the summer.

One festival that is definitely worth checking out is the city-wide "Semaine Italinenne de Montreal" which will begin on August 3rd and will run until August 12th.
Events associated with the festival will be going down all week around town, but the key event - the street festival - will happen in none other than Little Italy from August 10th-12th. But for a list of all the other events click HERE!
With that said, if you're looking for food and fun I would recommend hitting up the street festival portion of the event on Saint-Laurent. It's totally free and a great way to support the community and neighbourhood.
During the street festival, you will be able to sample all kinds of food and enjoy performances, vintage car expos, and more community and family-friendly activities.
