Montreal Is Hosting A Huge "Japanese Street Food" Festival

I've said it before, and I'll keep on saying it- Montreal is a massive melting pot packed full of so many incredible cultural heritage.

The diversity in Montreal is always on display, but in summer the exposure of all our diverse cultures is much higher. We have a festival or event for everyone.

We've already told you about the Caribbean food festival this year, that Montreal is also getting a new Indian food festival, and a wicked African-Asian food festival, too

Another great display of culture popped up on my radar today, and this time the focus is on Japan!

Matsuri Japon will hold the 17th edition of their Japanese cultural day this summer at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre of Montreal.

This one-day summer festival will bring together music and dance, souvenirs, food and much more as you will be transported to Japan for the day and take in all the cultural heritage in Montreal.

The best part, it's totally free to attend!

Japanese food and drink will be all over the site, with classics like Takoyaki (octopus stuffed pancake balls), Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake), Yakiniku (grilled beef), Yakisoba (sauteed noodles), Cold Udon (cold noodles), Ikayaki (grilled squid), Yakitori (grilled meat skewers), J-dogs (Japanese hot dogs), Onigiri (rice balls), and many more!

If this wasn't enough to get your mouth watering, classic Japanese desserts like Kakigori with fruity flavors (cherry, strawberry, lime, orange, blueberry) or matcha flavor with azuki beans, and matcha biscuits will also be available.

Matsuri Japon delivers a stellar collection of performance and entertainment every year as well. The schedule and lineup of performances have yet to be announced, but you can bet that you will be treated to some great displays of athleticism through martial arts, and a personal favourite of mine, classic Japanese dance and Kabuki theatre.
