Winter may loom on the horizon but it's still Fall in Montreal, at least for a little while longer. An under appreciated season in the city, autumn doesn't have the energy of summer nor the snowy aesthetic of winter, though the season in-between does have a lot going for it, at least in terms of colourful foliage.

French travel website Skyscanner has recognized the autumnal glory of Montreal and has ranked the city as one of the 7 best cities in to visit in the fall. As you'd expect, the trees to be seen in the city were a one of the main reasons why the city was chosen, with a walk up Mount Royal (and the end-view) recommended to Skyscanner readers, which is truly amazing. If you've haven't done the walk this season, save a trip and watch this video for a way better view than you could ever experience.

Montreal was ranked 4th overall in the global list, and while the site's incentive for readers to visit Montreal in fall were a bit cliche, we can't really disagree. The site did point out that Montreal is "the cultural capital of Canada," a flattering title we all know to be true, so we're going to let Skyscanners pretty basic description of autumn in Montreal slide.

See how Montreal stacked up against the 7 other cities chosen in the list below, and check out the full post here.

  1. New York, USA
  2. Rome, Italy
  3. Bruges, Belgium
  4. Montreal
  5. Budapest, Hungary
  6. Dresden, Germany
  7. Stockholm, Sweden
