Luckily you don't have to do much more research, as surveys have confirmed that Montreal is the cheapest place in the entire country to raise a child when it comes to child care costs, according to the CBC.
For example, compared to Toronto which has a median monthly cost of $1,675 (the most expensive city to raise a child in Canada), Montreal's median monthly cost is a grand total of $175.

The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternative has reported that the cost of infant care in Toronto is 10 times that of Montreal. Why? Well, Quebec has had a universal child-care program in place for over twenty years.
In fact, compared to every other city, Montreal still came out on top as cheapest. That's impressive given that, in total, thousands of respondants from 28 cities in Canada contributed to the report on the cost of care for three age groups: infant, toddler, and preschool.
Luckily for parents in other provinces, steps are being taken to lower the cost of child care. Newfoundland & Labrador, Alberta, and BC have all taken measures to bring down costs in the last few years.
