This is one of those stories I'm not quite sure how to feel about. Mayor Denis Coderre announced this weekend that he wants to turn the old Miron Landfill in Saint-Michel into a Gigantic Central Park style area.
Parks are beautiful, and this one in particular serves a greater purpose. It will be built on 35 million tons of buried trash. The cost has not yet been announced, but considering this park is only going to be done in 2023, (Yes, you heard right, 2023.) I'd say the price will be around 1.5 shitloads of money.
Building a park isn't that hard. You lay down some grass, you dig a hole in the middle, you fill it with water and throw in a bunch of stupid ducks or some shit and you're done. How the hell does that take 8 years?
Not to mention it's in a terrible location that isn't easily accessible by foot or by public transportation.
But at least it's worth it, because according to Denis Coderre, Montreal will finally have it's own "Central Park". Except we already have a Central Park, Mount Royal park. It literally fuckin' designed by the same guy!
What do you think?
