Montreal Women Will Be Going Topless In Public This Weekend

Montreal has always has the reputation of being very "European". However when it comes to nudity we suddenly turn into prude North Americans.
We like to think of ourselves as progressive, but our views regarding nudity are rather outdated.

Just over a month ago, a Montreal woman was relaxing at a local park, when she decided to tan topless. She was approached by two cadets who told her to cover up immediately or she would be fined $1,000.
Meanwhile men can go shirtless outdoors without a problem. It's unfair and it's about time things changed. This is not a matter of decency or morality, it is a gender equality issue plain and simple.
Luckily an organisation called GoTopless.org wants to change this by organizing a massive topless protest in several cities around in North America.
This year, over 50 different cities are participating in the protest. The Montreal event will take place on August 27 between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm at the Monument Sir Etienne Cartier Ave Du Parc.
